This year’s Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center’s (ADRC) annual education conference will take place on March 20, 2025 at Stony Brook University. Whether you’re a caregiver, healthcare professional, artist, or advocate, this event will showcase how music, visual arts, dance, and storytelling can enhance connection, spark memories, and improve well-being for individuals living with dementia. Featuring expert speakers, interactive workshops, and firsthand insights from those with lived experience, this conference will leave you with practical tools and fresh perspectives.
This year’s keynote speaker is Synaptic Groove Band, a unique Long Island musical band that performs your favorite hits while educating about the benefits of music for your health. There will be five breakout sessions: Music has Power® in Senior Wellness and Healthcare : Best Practices from Music Therapy, Silver Editions Dance Presented by Dancing Classrooms, Long Island, In the Moment Presented by The Long Island Museum, Art Expression – A Creative Experience for Caregivers & Their Loved Ones with Dementia, and Beyond Words: Uncovering Needs and Building Connects with Validation in Dementia Care.
There will also be a presentation of Dementia Act 2: Perspectives for the New Era of Dementia Treatment, a transformative exploration of the new era of dementia care – including early diagnosis, innovative treatments, and comprehensive care models – featuring Dr. Anne Kenny and an extraordinary panel of individuals living with various forms of dementia. Be inspired, informed and educated through a creative, storytelling discussion infused with personal experiences and courageous stories full of insight, humor, and love.
