Managing Partner, Robert J. Kurre, Esq. will be a speaker at the Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center’s (ADRC) annual education conference on March 14, 2024 at Stony Brook University.  All those who are family caregivers, professional caregivers, professionals in the health field or someone interested in learning more about dementia and the resources that are available for caregivers on Long Island, are invited for a full day of education and support.

The conference will also provide an opportunity to earn up to 4 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) in various health disciplines. The schedule of events includes an interactive caregiver panel discussion, a keynote speaker, two breakout sessions of your choosing between several topics, a resource exhibition, chances to interact and socialize with other family and professional caregivers, plus meals/refreshments and an ice cream social! Please visit the event page for more information.

The interactive panel of family caregivers will discuss several topics, which include the challenges and rewards of caregiving, what they have learned since becoming a caregiver and what they wish they knew from the start. The keynote speaker is a practicing cardiologist at Northwell Health and best-selling author, Sandeep Jauhar. Dr. Jauhar will discuss his latest book, My Father’s Brain, which is a memoir of his personal experience depicting the complications that may arise when family members step up to become caregivers, as he did for his father who was diagnosed with Dementia.

There will then be two breakout sessions in which participants will get to choose two workshops that interest them. The workshops participants get to choose from include “Gamechanger: How Improv Exercises and Games Boost Well-Being, Creativity, and Community”, “Unlocking Potential: The Montessori Method in Dementia Care”, “Progress in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease”, “Navigating the Continuum: A Comprehensive Approach to Dementia Care”, and “Planning for your Future/Protecting your Assets and the Family Home”.
